Quest Title:
The Search for Ancient Armor
Repeatable:
Yes
You look down at the twisted “grocery list” that you compiled from the different markets around Elyndrel. Who knew that what you though was such a simple request could turn out to be such a bother. It seems that all of the markets have to work together in order to fabricate such an enhancement.

First, the armor is going to need some major reinforcement. The blacksmith said that only cie can be used, but it’s really rather rare. Likely the only place to find it would be in the depths of the crust of Solaris, but luckily (the blacksmith’s word choice), the creation of the mountain ranges north of the Xhan Tarn beach pushed some of the deep crust much closer to the surface. Surely you would be able to find some raw cie ore only a thousand feet underground or so. Only a large handful would be needed.

Secondly, the armor is going to need a new finish, mainly in order to absorb some of the more magical implementations. The craftsman can do that easily enough, but you need to get him something as well, some slime with a name you can’t remember. Supposedly, on the far side of the Osperian Forest, vile swamps lurking with beasts and plagues stretch for a hundred miles. An elusive toad-like creature lives within – one of those should do the trick. You don’t want to think about what the craftsman plans on doing with that toad, but he specifically noted that they are extremely venomous and lightning quick, and to put sugar on the top of that, he needs it alive.

Thirdly, the enchanter is going to need some mystical relics in order to do his part. Most of them aren’t so bad – some knick knacks here and there – but the most interesting one is the withered stomach of a petrified sandwyrm, found only in the depths of the Kazarial Desert. Who knew that they became petrified when they died? He did mention jovially that the stomach would still be inside the body, buried in putrid filth that has been rotting for years inside its stone prison. Oh, also it’s rare to find a sandwyrm graveyard, as it were, without coming very near to a colony of still-living sandwyrms. You’re pretty sure the enchanter was holding back a laugh when he told you that last part.

Fourthly, the scientist has to attach some crazy gizmos or whatnot to the armor. You were so excited when he started to tell you his part as he didn’t mention some crazy fetch-quest that you had become so accustomed to hearing by this point. He does, however, need you to travel to the Permian Tundra (he was unspecific as to how you were actually supposed to get there) with some sort of mechanical creation about the size of a house pet. It needs to run some sort of test before his part can be done to the armor; the problem is that if it were to run its test, it would burn to a crisp and leave a crater in its wake. He assured you that by burying it in the ice about five hundred feet inland would automatically activate its experiment and doubly assured you that the intense cold would make it extremely unlikely to overheat and detonate. He used the words “extremely unlikely” about seven times. You guess it was supposed to be reassuring.

Fifthly, the runecrafter has to etch some sigils into the armor as the first barrier to keep all that has been added to it from every fading. Finally a break, right? Well, it turns out that he needs a special tool in order to complete such symbols. At this point, you have ceased to be surprised. Specifically, he needs the unbroken molar of a goblin residing in the Endless Plains. Goblins are very proud of their teeth, apparently, and are likely not to be very generous with their distribution. They also hate dentists, so the first few goblins aren’t likely to have the tooth you’re looking for.

Lastly (finally), the alchemist must sprinkle some sort of dust over the whole thing to finally seal the deal. You need to procure a small handful of a specific herb. The herbs themselves are actually rather common… on the floor of the Outer Ocean floor. Though, considering some of the other things you have to collect, it is probably a step down. He didn’t mention how in the world you were supposed to get down there without being crushed instantly by the intense pressure.
Each of the 6 components warrants a separate 1,500 word minimum questing session. There is no credit reward for these sessions (though bonuses like the Midas Stone still apply). Any of the questing sessions can be supplemented with a Role-Playing Session with NPC interaction that should be equivalently 1,500 words, but leniency will be made at the discretion of the Staff member playing the NPC. Even characters with a market class must perform the task for their respective class.
Ancient Armor - The epitome of crafting profession, Ancient Armor has been through the gauntlet of the markets to make the ultimate equipment. This increases the armor’s maximum physical defense rating (P-DEF) by 25% and maximum force defense rating (F-DEF) by 50%. Any armor may only have one of the following enhancements on it: Ancient, Hardened, Buffered, Mystic.
