Osperians are large bird-like creatures. They are usually very stupid, using only their agility and razor-sharp talons to escape death. They can usually grow to around six feet in height and usually weigh around 200 pounds. There are several different types of Osperians living about Solaris, the following is a list of the most common.
Brown Osperians live in many areas about Solaris, they are the most prominent of the Osperians that can be seen in the wild. They don't have any special capabilities other than being a massive bird that can be used for transportation. They are easily spooked and therefore can sometimes be hard to catch or kill. The Brown Osperians are very fast runners and their legs are very strong so they can usually support large amounts of weight. They do have wings but their so short and stubby that they are basically useless for flight, their purpose is actually unknown. Brown Osperians are omnivores and will usually eat just about anything, however their favorite foods are Osper Berries from the Osperian Forest. Even though the Brown Osperians are very easily spooked they can easily be caught if food is involved and a good petting. They are very dull witted but many find that their soft feathers and lovable attitude if you give them something eat and pet them is a good reason not to slaughter them by the masses. Blue Osperians primarily live amongst the water areas of Solaris. They mainly eat seafoods and usually never come to far in land. Their feet are webbed and they have a protective covering that covers their eyes underwater, strangely enough they can even hold their breath for hours upon hours and this altogether makes them excellent swimmers. Their feathers aren't much for the touch because they actually feel very stiff and when underwater their skin releases a slimy gel that secretes into their feathers, this makes them glide through the water very quickly and without much effort. They aren't the most intelligent creatures like their Brown brothers, but if caught they are excellent for water travel, if you can hold onto them. Also, Blue Osperians cannot fly, their wings are actually smaller than the Brown Osperians. Green Osperians primarily live in the forest areas of Solaris, their favorite foods are primarily greenery and mainly Osper Berries. They are highly hostile and extremely aggressive. Not being able to fly doesn't prevent them from leaping hundreds of feet straight up into the trees around them. Their bodies are camouflaged quite well and their feathers are usually very rough and rigid. This group of Osperians never ventures far from forest areas and usually dwell deep within the Osperian Forest. They come in wide commodity and are always looking for a fight. Gray Osperians are very rare around Solaris because the male version of the species was once hunted for their meat because it actually raises ones own power level considerably just by eating a chunk of it. Now days they can hardly be found but it is said that somewhere across the plains of Solaris there is a valley containing thousands of these creatures. They are not very intelligent, actually the dullest of all the Osperians, and they usually eat just about anything they can fit in their beaks, even stones and rocks. They try to eat constantly which actually seems to have been one of the causes of their lacking existence. They cannot fly and they don't really seem to run all that fast either. All this together is what has made them a perfect target for hunters. When Noma handed out the brains this species most definitely wandered off in the other direction. Red Osperians live mainly in very hot areas of Solaris, as properly noted by their color and name. Their feathers are more like armor than one would think possible. They are very rare and primarily stay well away from civilization and even other Osperians. Their diets are actually unknown, some say that from the lack of other foods down in the caverns and in other hot places the Red Osperians have probably stooped to eating their wounded, elderly, and sickly before. They are extremely hostile creatures and most who find them quickly find themselves running in the opposite direction. They usually stay in large groups and actually seem to be decently social among one another. They are actually a bit more intelligent than some of the other variations of Osperians. As you might think, they cannot fly because of their very short wings and their heavy body weight. Black Osperians are found mostly around the forest areas of Solaris and the ocean areas a lot as well, mainly throughout the mountains of Xhan Tarn. Their wings are actually long enough that they can glide for decently long distances. They primarily eat seafoods and the large insects that live throughout the mountains and forest of Solaris. They are actually very friendly and intelligent, usually staying well away from danger because the primarily are seen gliding around in the mountains. Their legs are extremely strong, most likely for supporting their massive bodies when they land from gliding for such great distances. Their feathers aren't quite like the Brown Osperians feathers but they are soft yet rigid enough to support their bodies in flight. There may be more variations of Osperians throughout the world but this is what is most known about them. |
