Plasma energy is the basis of life on Solaris. When Dakon Killener crafted the world, he released what are now known as the Biotech Microorganisms, or the BTMs, which are nanobots that still inhabit the air we breathe and the earth on which we tread going as deep as the core of the planet and as high as the future orbit of Arc. Solaris was originally a barren world incapable of supporting life because of its distance from a binary star system coupled with an unusually high gravitational pull. These magnificent BTMs were not only able to manipulate the world to promote vegetation and oceans, but inhabit all plants and beings in order to strengthen their bodies against these devastating forces of radiation and weight as well as bolster a person’s metabolism, muscle tone, and immune system. Without these nanobots in your system, you would only last a few seconds before succumbing to the environment. These harsh conditions are what cause most all newcomers to Solaris to experience blacking out, and if it weren’t for the BTMs filling their bodies within a fraction of a second and strengthening them, they would never wake. In their normal processes, these mechanical devises give off a trace amount of energy, called Plasma energy, that would be insubstantial and worthless to a macroscopic world, except when billions or even trillions of BTMs are constantly outputting this energy simultaneously, it can be “harvested” into a useful manifestation, usually appearing as a tan or brown swirl of gases. Any being (including player characters at creation) can invoke this energy for their own use, often times focusing their will to create a ball of energy at the palm of their hands. Interestingly, however, while this act is relatively easy (some require a little bit of practice), manifesting pure plasma energy proves to be a little tricky, as one focusing their will actually acts to morph this energy into one of the four normal energies, depending on the person. This is perfectly fine; however, because while drawing out pure plasma energy is a great parlor trick, and may even make you one with the ladies, it is less effective in battle than any of the other energies. Not only does this make the four normal energies literally birthed by plasma energy, the three epic energies can, as well, be attributed to the existence of plasma. |
