The Vegonians, the technological geniuses of their time, originally created cyborgs to perform dangerous tasks to keep their people safe. The first cyborgs were created using mechanical parts affixed to the organic material from dead bodies fitted with rudimentary programming. As the science progressed, live subjects were able to be altered; usually people mortally injured or dying from an incurable disease were selected to be modified into cyborgs. And as their understanding of computers increased, so did the capacity for artificial intelligence for their cyborgs made without working brains.

As the creation of these pseudo-beings became cheaper and cheaper; however, they began to be made for everyday uses. Cyborgs were created to do every-day work as they did not require as much food or water and did not tire so easily. With the cyborgs doing all the work in the city, this meant more leisure time for the people of Vegonia.

The more common they became, the more they were taken for granted and even the most sophisticated cyborgs were treated as second-hand citizens or even slaves. Mistreatment became common. A radical group of cyborg-sympathizers started the revolution to emancipate their cie-powered brothers – at first it was about stealing them and setting them free, but eventually it turned to political outreach and better treatment for cyborgs in general.

Today, the production of cyborgs is much smaller than before. With the regulations in place for treatment and production of them, it is much more costly, so they have gone back to being more of a luxury item, used primarily for tasks that would be dangerous for the normal person. With the dark history of mistreatment, many are unwilling to submit themselves to becoming a cyborg, even if it would save them from death.

Most cyborgs outside of Vegonia and the surrounding areas left at the time of the initial revolution, and so many of those still hold onto the resentment and hostility toward the completely organic people that used to oppress them. Many have become aggressive for this reason; however, there are many out there who are the opposite – stuck in their ways of submission.
Racial Ability 1:
Cie Energy - A cyborg must pick cie energy as his favored energy. (Passive Ability)
Racial Ability 2:
Metallic Soul - Cyborgs are considered constructs and so they cannot be healed by conventional means. However, three times per battle, a cyborg or his ally may strike him with an energy attack and heal for an amount equal to the damage that attack would deal. A cyborg cannot have more hit points than his Health SVS. (Passive Ability)
Racial Ability 3:
Steam Power - A cyborg can vent from his power cell and emit a cloud of steam that persists for the next three rounds. During these rounds, anyone making a melee strike against the cyborg suffers a 25% penalty to Hit SVS as he is blinded by the burning mist. (Action Ability)
