Beyond this realm is one known as the Afterplane, where spirits reside after being torn from their physical forms. A great many of them dwindle in power, becoming meek and passive. Some, however, are so entwined with strong emotions from their life (or death) that they become increasingly unstable. They begin dominating weaker souls for power. After they have become strong enough they push past the barrier between our world and theirs and return to Solaris as demons. The stronger the soul as it crosses the barrier, the stronger demon it becomes. Many possess a nearby creature, animal, or humanoid, imposing their will over the owner's until it crushes all resistance. Some stronger demons are able to gather mass around their spirits and create their own vessel.
Due to the lust for power that began their quest across the barrier, demons are always looking for a fight. They pick on those weaker than them, toying with them before exerting their strength. Their true movites are rarely known. Some are merely looking to cause chaos and destruction, while others seek revenge on those that sent their souls to the Afterplane in the first place. Demonic forms vary greatly, but generally have some sort of unnatural feature. For instance, a humanoid demon may have horns, wings, or a tail. This is not an absolute, however, and demons may be encountered that have no visible identifying features. Due to their wholly unnatural existance and barely-contained malice, demons of all shapes and sizes radiate an aura of anger and aggresiveness that gives its true nature away. Despite popular legends, demons cannot reproduce. Some spirits are so consumes with unrecquited lust that it drives them to sexually attack others, but they are incapable of creating offspring. They can, however, transfer some of their energies to their victim, potentially mutating them or their future progeny. This leaves the demon greatly weakened, and due to that price is avoided at almost all cost. |

Racial Ability 1:Fear - Once per battle per opponent, the demon causes a great deal of panic in an opponent he strikes with an energy attack. This bonus affects the first successful energy attack against each opponent from the demon and it causes the victim to become paralyzed in fear and unable to take an action during his turn. This does not cause the target to be unable to dodge or parry. Any character whose highest Total PVS is double that of the demon’s highest Total PVS is unaffected by this effect. (Action Ability) Racial Ability 2:Hate - The demon may make a physical attack that ignores his opponent’s physical damage reduction. If this attack is successful, Hate cannot be used again during the battle. (Action Ability) Racial Ability 3:Grudge - Once per battle, the demon shrouds itself in an aura of malice, increasing all damage reductions by 10% for five rounds. (Action Ability) |
